Replacement Surge Brake Actuator Assembly for Boat Trailer 3" Straight Bolt Pattern

Question:

My 8000 lb x 2inch ball drum actuator needs replacement. The frame is 3inch wide x 4inch tall. The three bolt holes are 3inch apart from each other. I was looking at the Demco DM 8669112 and thinking that I could just drill a new hole for the 12 1/2 inch location. As long as it fits over a 3inch wide frame. Or is there another model that would work better ?

The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8669112 will fit the 3" frame on your boat trailer. I have attached a picture that will show the different bolt patterns as this on will sit above the frame and not quite on the frame.

The 3 hole straight that you have will have bolt holes that are 0.85" below the top of the frame while the 3 hole standard holes on the # DM8669112 are 1.5" below the top of the frame rail.

I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Manual Lockout # DM8760011. This will include a manual lockout to allow you to backup your boat trailer without the brakes activating. You can bolt on the Demco Trailer Coupler # DM12688-95 for your 2" ball. With this setup it will align with the holes already in your frame so you won't have to risk drilling into any wiring, brake lines or damaging the frame.
