Is the Hopkins Tailgate EasyLift Compatible with an LED Light Bar Under the Tailgate

Question:

I have an LED light bar stop/turn/backup between the bumper and bottom of tailgate on my 07 GMC Sierra/Classic. I think this would be VERY helpful for opening/closing the tailgate, but concerned if theres enough clearance when the bar would go through its cycle. Any recommendations?

Light bars can sometimes interfere with the installation of the Hopkins Tailgate EasyLift, # 74211. I spoke with my contact at Hopkins to see if they know of any fit issues with a light bar and he told me they did have some reported complaints about light bars interfering on Dodge trucks, but he did not have any information on GM trucks.

I do have some information that will help determine if the EasyLift will fit with your LED light bar. To install the EasyLift on your truck, you will need to drill a hole next to your tail light 2-3/4 inches above the floor of your truck bed. Once the EasyLift is inserted into that hole, the bottom of the easy lift bar will sit 5 inches below that hole and it will extend 31-1/2 inches to the center of your tailgate.

If your light bar sits between the rear edge of the truck bed and your tailgate, then you will want to use these measurements to determine if your light bar will interfere with the EasyLift.
