Creating a 16 foot Hitch Extension For Trailer

Question:

Im looking to piece together what will essentially be a 16 ft hitch extension that will rest on a trailer bed and hold the tongue of a smaller trailer to be towed on that trailer in place. It would seem that purchasing 4 of these would get me most of the way there but I cant tell by the pictures if I purchased multiple of this item, would the male end of one fit into the receiving end of the other without any further fabrication aside from drilling holes for the pins.

The Buyers Products Black Receiver Tube # 337RT25848B is a receiver tube and not an extension. It will not be able to slide into each other as the tubing is 2"x2" square tubing the entire 4' length.

You would be able to connect these with the Curt Solid Steel 2" Hitch Bar # D30 but it will require drilling a 2nd hole through the steel tubing and the hitch bar. It may be better to weld the hitch bar to the receiver tube with plug welds as this would be a stronger connection and it would help to eliminate the play in the two components.
