Slow Response Time with Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes

Question:

Mobile Suites fifth wheel trailer I have a 7 to10 sec delay befor the brakes apply on the trailer.the only reason i can think of for this problem is air in the hydraulic circuit, however i can not find any leaks nor has the the oil level gone down. How would the air have gotten in to the circuit? This system used to work,is there aything else that could cause this and if so how can i check it.

If the system used to work fine but suddenly is not then it could be an electrical problem, problem with the motor (not pressurizing), or a setting change on the brake controller. The first thing I would check is the electrical connections and make sure everything is intact and that none of the wires are grounded to corroded metal.

Then, check to make sure the brake controller settings are correct and adjust as needed. From there I would bleed the trailer brakes as described in the owner's manual.

If the actuator is not receiving enough power, then you will want to make sure the trailer and vehicle side connectors are clean and corrosion free on the pins and around back where the wires attach. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to determine if you are getting power on the 12-volt pin.

If during the tests you find that the motor is not running to pressurize the system like it should then the problem is most likely internal if everything is wired correctly and there is adequate power. The system will have to be replaced because there are no user serviceable internal parts.
