How do you wire a 5 wire trailer to a 4 wire plug?

If the 5th pin on the trailer connector is being used for reverse lights, or something else that is not necessarily needed you can just plug it directly into the 4-way connector on your tow vehicle.

Now if the 5th pin is used as the reverse lockout on a surge brake actuator you will need to use a 4-way to 5-way adapter # C57187 which will plug into the 4-way connector on your towed vehicle, and the blue wire will need to get attached to the reverse light wire on your tow vehicle with the included quick splice.

Lastly if the harness you have is a wishbone harness that has two brown wires, a yellow wire, a white wire, and a green wire, you will just need to connect the two brown wires together, as they are both for the running lights.

You will need a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to find the correct wire.
