Is an Amplifier Needed to Power Speakers When Using The Jensen JDVD1500?

Question:

In a previous answer its stated, This DVD player will require connection to an amplifier which will then provide power to the speakers connected to the amplifier. This Jensen player is a source component that provides a signal to downstream components but it does not amplify that signal enough for speakers.inch Im replacing the existing CD player in my RV to add bluetooth capability plus a DVD player. Not sure about an amplifier? As far as I know, the current CD player Dual XD 5110 has no need for an amplifier. Will I be able to simply swap out my current CD player with the JDVD1500 without the need for an amplifier?

I do not believe that previous answer is correct. This radio does not require an amplifier for any typical use. The included instructions tell you how to connect up to four speakers which are powered to 40 watts each by the radio. Yes, you will be able to simply swap the radios out following the speaker wiring guide that is in the instructions and printed on the top of the radio.

That being said, this radio does include “Line Out” connections using RCA style cables. You could use these Line Out connections to connect to a home stereo receiver and there would only be line-level signal on those connections as you might want to have your home speakers playing what the home stereo provides. You might use the line out connections to an RV television because you want the TV to play the video and audio from a DVD.

For most of us, we will just use the stereo to play radio and CD's and such.
