Recommended 4 Bike Rack for Two Heavy E-Bikes With Fenders

Question:

We were looking to purchase the above rack. However we have 2 e bikes both of which have fenders. It does not appear that his rack would work without damaging the fenders? What platform rack would you suggest. Bikes with batteries are 65lbs each . . We could take off the batteries

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR1400Z uses a frame mount to secure the bikes by their top tube, which should not damage the fenders. If you have an alternate frame, you would need the adapter bar # # HRBA-PRO for the hook to clamp onto.

This rack has a 50 lbs weight capacity, so check if your bikes weigh less than 50 lbs with the batteries off. It is wise to take the batteries off anyways since road vibration has been found to not be good for battery longevity. Other than that, it's a great fit!

Wheel mount bike racks are usually avoided when it comes to fenders with one exception. The Saris SuperClamp Ex 4 # SA4026F is my favorite recommendation for e-bikes with fenders, especially if they have step-thru frames. This has front and back wheel mounts AND two wheels straps. With fenders, the clamp is mounted right below the end of the fender on the front wheel. The rear clamp should be set right above the rear fender (not touching) just as a safety precaution. With the wheel straps tightened down at the bottom, Saris has approved this fit for bikes with fenders. It also has a 60 lb weight capacity for the two inner bikes, which you might prefer if your batteries don't decrease enough weight.
