How To Install Tekonsha P3 On 2019 Ford F-350 with Factory Brake Controller

Question:

I have a integrated OEM brake controller. It’s not performing like it should for my electric over hydraulic brakes on my fifth wheel. If I add like a P-3 how will it work with the factory computer. I don’t want to always alert me about break faults.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 can be used to replace the factory brake controller on a 2019 Ford F-350 using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 22292. That said, you might need to take the truck to the dealer to have them remove a code which may appear when the above is used. If you are looking for an option that won't require dealer reprogramming then you can use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 which would bypass the factory brake controller on its own and is electric over hydraulic brake compatible.

The other option would be to install an adapter in-line with the actuator, the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module for Ford part # HBA-CAM works with any actuator.
