How to use 12V Power Jack With Trailer That Doesnt Have a Battery
Question:
when installing this jack on a trailer that previously had a manual jack, which battery would you recommend to use?

Since your trailer doesn't have a battery I am under the assumption that it has a 4-Way flat connection.
Rather than installing a battery, battery box, and a 7-way with charge line circuit you can attach the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20044 to the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000 and use the vehicle battery to operate the jack. To do this simply connect the black wire of the connector to the black wire of the jack. The white wire of the connector will need to connect to a ground connection on the trailer as the jack frame acts as the ground circuit.
If your vehicle does not have a 7-way the etrailer Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 will give you the parts necessary to add a 7-way to your vehicle.
If your trailer already has a 7-way then you can wire in the same way as instructed above for the black wire of the jack.
If you would rather have a battery so you can operate the jack without the need to be connected to a vehicle the Bright Way Deep Cycle Battery # BRW34FR is the maintenance free battery I recommend. You will want the Snap-Top Battery Box # 329-HM318BKS to protect the battery and mount it to your trailer. This battery will need to be charged by connecting it to the vehicle via the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20044.
