How Much Overhang Does the Thule UpRide Have in the Front

Question:

I have a difficult installation. My old Sidearms work, but I need to know if the Upride will fit. I fear it is too long. I know it is 64 inches, but when installed on square bars, how much of the 64 is in front of the front bar, and how much is behind the front bar?

I spoke with Thule to confirm this for you.

There isn't an exact measurement of overhang for the UpRide, part # TH599000, since a lot depends on your particular setup. However, they stated that it should be around 12" give or take. As such, there isn't an exact measurement of behind the bar either.

If you are still concerned over this or if that is too long, I highly recommend going with a fork-mount bike rack like the Yakima ForkChop, part # Y02117. There is no overhang save for a few inches of the bike itself. The clamps are the only part of the rack, so space would not be an issue. I've linked to a video review of this rack for your consideration.
