Redarc Brake Controller Testing on a 2017 Subaru Outback

Question:

I have just installed the Redarc Liberty brake controller along with ETBC7 and the recommended 4 wire harness. As far as I can tell, the installation matched the instructions identical to the video, but the brake control signal does not show up on my 7-pin connector tester. I get running lights, turn signal, 12 volt aux power and running lights, but now brake controller signal. I have NOT yet connected a trailer with brakes, but am setting up for future use and need to know it works. When I depress the manual override button the blue light glows for a few seconds then goes dark. Please help. As a side note, my Subaru dealership printed out a schematic of the brake switch wiring and told me to tap into the black with white striped wire coming off the brake switch. There are half a dozen wires coming out of the harness. Any ideas?

I believe that the Redarc Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR is hooked up correctly to your 2017 Subaru Outback. The blue light flashing when you push the override button is telling you that a trailer is not connected. Also remember that with this brake controller being proportional it will want to see the brake light but also feel the inertia of the vehicle stopping.
