Recommended Solution to Bolt on Safety Chains to Utility Trailer

Question:

Hello. Is there a bolt on safety chain attachment point for trailers? I found all the weld on chain clevis units and the weld on chain links but thought there must be some sort of bracket that would mount using the bolts that hold the connector to the trail draw bar. I have a 4foot X 8foot utility trail. Thank you

I have a solution for you but I'm not aware of a bolt on safety chain bracket or clevis. However you can simply take a safety chain set like the 42" Long Safety Chain with 3/8" Clevis Hook (15,000 lbs) # 337BSC3842 and use a grade 8 bolt to attach the chains to the trailer with a washer holding the bolt through the last chain link. I've linked some photos that show how to make this work for you but that would be my suggestion. You will need to drill into the trailer frame for this, but it would avoid welding.

You can source your grade 8 bolts locally.
