I have a solution for you to carry your 96lb 18' kayak on your Subaru Crosstrek, but your options will be slightly limited since not all kayak carriers can hold this weight. Your most affordable option is going to be the Rhino-Rack Nautic 580 Side Loading Kayak Carrier # RR580 which will simply clamp around your Thule Aeroblade crossbars and provide a nice mounting spot for your kayak. The weight capacity of this carrier is whatever your crossbar weight capacity is, which makes it a great option for the large and heavy kayaks,
For a much nicer setup, if cost isn't a concern, I would look at the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier # LR54FR. This has a weight capacity of 175lbs and will do a much better job of securing the kayak since it has large cradle arms on each side.
Another thing to look at is a load assist which will help out tremendously when loading a 96lb kayak. I recommend the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist - Crossbar Mount - Side Loading - 132 lbs # RR-RUSL since it is very versatile and easy to use with many different roof racks and kayak carriers. This will work in combination with either kayak carrier mentioned above, or you could technically use it without a kayak carrier but that route wouldn't provide as much support for the kayak. Remember that you shouldn't exceed the weight capacity of your vehicle's roof; my research tells me that your 2014 Crosstrek has a roof capacity of 150lbs but you will want to verify in your owner's manual to be sure. I attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
