How Many Pins Are Needed for the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mounts

Question:

Is it necessary to use both pins on the portion of the hitch? Or can I use just one of the pins? Trucks are higher off the ground these days and Im left with a hitch that doesnt give me quite the leveling on my trailer that I had with my older truck. Thanks so much.
