Flat Towing With a 2021 Jayco Precept Motorhome

Question:

Hello. You have all been helpful to me, and I have a tough question. I have decided not to use a car tow dolly, but instead to get a vehicle that I can flat tow. I am researching several models. will probably choose between a Jeep, CRV. My question is: I want to have an auxiliary braking system, so can I install a brake controller such as the P3 that is electric over hydraulic? Then, once I get the proper tow bar, how do I connect the vehicle to the RV system for the braeks? I am confused, but I now that you all seem to have really good answers. Thank you

Since you'll be flat towing a vehicle instead of just towing a trailer with your 2021 Jayco Precept Motorhome you will need a supplemental braking system and not a standard trailer brake controller. Trailer brake controllers like the Tekonsha P3 # 90195 are designed to activate the brakes on a trailer directly while supplemental braking systems will push down on the brake pedal of your vehicle to activate the brakes. I recommend the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor - Proportional Item # DM86VR. This kit will include everything you need and will be wired into your RV and then into your towed vehicle.

Once you decide what car you plan on towing, and have made sure that it can be flat towed, you'll need base plates, a tow bar, wiring kit for your tow bar, and safety cables.

Our fitguide can assist in finding each of those items that fit your desired vehicle and we can also assist if you'd like to leave us the year/model/make of your vehicle.
