Adding Off Road Tires to a Trailer That Has Standard Tires
Question:
I am wanting to expand then tire size on my yard trailer. Currently is a 4 lug pattern and 4.80.12. I have 1 1/2 inch clearance from the tire that is on there now and the frame. Will the above tire work? If not can you recommend something.

With the standard 4.80-12 tire having a section width of 4.7 inches and the Arisun LHAWG125JL12MB having a section width of 10 1/2 inches, it would exceed the space you have on the trailer. That being said, if you wanted to go with this tire and wheel combo, there is a solution to get the added room.
The Timbren Axle-Less Suspension set up # ASR1200S02 is specifically designed to be used with larger, beefier off road style tires. As this would replace your current axle, you should check the bearings in your current hubs to make sure the inner and outer bearings are # L44649, or have an inner diameter on 1.063 inches. If they are, you can use your current hubs on this system. If they are the smaller # L44643, or have an inner diameter of 1 inch, you would need to replace them with the Dexter Hub # 8-91-05UC1-EZ.
