In regards to installing a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885, I am not sure why you would want to find the hot wire but the method for finding this would be the same as that of finding the cold wire on the brake pedal. The only difference would be that the hot wire has power no matter if the brake pedal is depressed or not and the cold wire only has power while the brake pedal is depressed. This can be tested by using a circuit tester and probing the wires that run to the brake pedal while the pedal is depressed. The red wire from the controller goes to the cold wire.
