What Should the Wheel Well Measurements on a Vehicle Once Weight Distribution System has Been Set up

Question:

I installed a RP3215 shank on my 2002, 3500 Chevy duelly to pull my 27foot Sunnybrook trailer. I watched your Draw-Tite weight distribution installation video several times. I got the measurement at the front and rear wheel well. Front was 37 1/2inch and the rear was 41 1/2. After I did everything that I thought I was supposed to do after everything was installed and in place, I took the measurement again and the best I could get after several trys and configuations front was 37 1/2foot the same and the rear was 40 1/2inch - one inch difference. My question to you, is the one inch difference within an acceptable limit? If not, any help/suggestion would be greatly appriciated. Thank you,

You will want the measurement from the front and back wheel wells to be almost the same as they were before you connected a trailer. You will want the measurements to be within 1/2 an inch of being what they were.

Since the difference on your setup is 1 inch you will need to reduce the number of chain links between the spring bars and lift brackets until you get that additional 1/2 inch. You may have to angle the head of your weight distribution system back if your bars are pointed too far up in the back.

You also want to make sure that you have the correct weight distribution system rating for your setup. In order to pick out the correct weight distribution system you need to know the loaded tongue weight of your setup. You should also note that any weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle needs to be considered as tongue weight. I attached an FAQ article on how to determine tongue weight for you to check out also.
