Generator Wont Start and Fuel Overflowed Out of the Carburetor
Question:
I had difficulty starting the unit today and after several attempted pull starts, a large amount gas began leaking from the carb and collecting at the base of the unit. The gaskets around the carb seem fine and connections were tight at the site of the leak. The only thing I can think is maybe this generator has a gas escape channel in the event of flooding?

I would first begin by checking the oil on the Etrailer 2,000-Watt Portable RV Inverter Generator 333-0001. You will want to see if any fuel made its way into the oil and that it is at the correct level as if the oil is to low or high it may not allow the engine to start. To check the oil level remove the dipstick and clean off the oil. Don't rethread the dipstick, just place until it makes contact with the threads and check the level.
If the oil checks out next you will want to check the Spark Plug # 333-312455001. First a visual inspection to check for damage or excessive discoloration. You can test the plug by using a spark plug tester or by holding the spark plug threads to part of the engine or steel frame away from possible ignition sources and watching for spark(wear thick rubber gloves to prevent shock). If no spark than either the plug is bad or the Ignition Coil.
If the spark check out as well the carburetor will probably need cleaned and serviced. That is something that is usually left to the pros. If you feel up to the challenge you can remove the carburetor and disassemble the bowl on the bottom. Inside there is a float which controls the amount of fuel that is let into the bowl and the fuel jet. If the jet is clogged it can usually be cleaned with carb cleaner and air pressure. If the float sticks than the bowl will over fill with fuel causing the engine to flood. This would explain your fuel pouring out. Typically the carb is designed to send fuel out through air box and not into the engine if it overflows.
