Why Dont Aftermarket Brake Controllers Require Programming Like OEM Ford Controller
Question:
My Ford dealer says that their brake controller has to be compatible with my 2017 F150 XLT and has to be programmed. Why dont your brake controllers have to be programmed, or do they? I need to order today if possible. Thanks

Expert Reply:
OEM brake controllers integrate into the dash display of the vehicle which is why they require programming whereas aftermarket brake controllers like the Tekonsha # 90885 do not at all so they don't require it.
All you need to install this controller in your 2017 Ford F-150 is the install harness part # 22292 which plugs in under the dash.
