Determining The Correct Weight Distribution Hitch For 2021 Grand Design 31 Travel Trailer
Question:
I currently have a 2006 Chevy 2500 diesel and am buying a 2021 grand designs reflections 31 foot travel trailer. The info on the brochure says 1065 lbs tongue weight but it’s usually a heavier weight. Will this hitch work for my set up?

It is possible that the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 13K GTW, 1.3K TW # BLU27FR you were looking at will work for towing your 2021 Grand Design Reflection 31' Travel Trailer, but you will need to know the total tongue weight which is different than the tongue weight listed in the brochure.
Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Diesel. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement is with a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 but there are other methods outlined in the included help article.
The # BLU27FR you were looking at is designed to work with total tongue weights ranging between 1000-1300lbs so if your tongue weight falls in this range, this would be a great option.
If your total tongue weight is over 1300lbs you will need to replace the trailer hitch receiver on your truck with one that uses a 2-1/2" receiver like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V Commercial Duty - 2-1/2" # C15703.
Then for a weight distribution hitch I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 16,000 lbs GTW, 1,600 lbs TW # EQ64FR which works with total tongue weights ranging from 1200-1600lbs.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
