Recommended Tonneau Cover for 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 with DRW Used with Transfer Tank/Tool Box Combo

Question:

Looking for my first ever tonneau cover for my new truck. I like the idea of a powered cover as my wife is very short and would never be able to manually retract the cover or at least not without having to climb into the bed. I do have a gooseneck Reese Goosebox for my fifth wheel and I am also considering a transfer tank/tool box combo. I noticed the details of this cover mentions that it is not to be used on dual rear wheels. Just curious as to why or what options I might have. Thanks

I may have a solution for you, but as of April 2021 there are not any powered retractable tonneau covers that are available for a 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 DRW. I'll add that I do believe you might have issues finding a transfer tank/tool box combo that is short enough to fit under a tonneau cover and also does not interfere with the cannister on a retractable cover. I do believe the reason that the # PE62CV won't function with the DRW models is the bed rails are slightly different on those models compared to those with single rear wheels.

With all of that said, if you can find a transfer tank/toolbox that is 19"-21" wide then you could use the Access Toolbox Edition Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # A62439, which would be easy to roll up and still allow you to keep the truck bed covered up. This tonneau is designed to work with a tool box that extends over the sides of the truck, so it might work for you if you can find a combo that size.

I've linked a short review video of this cover for you to check out. I know that both Retrax and Pace Edwards are working on solutions for a powered cover that works with the DRW 3500 but there is not a date determined as to when those might be available.
