Which Weight Distribution Shank with 8 to 10 Inches to Use with Reese Strait-Line

Question:

I have a lifted jeep wrangler unlimited JKU Rubicon with an aftermarket bumper which causes the receiver to be higher than the factory receiver. The bumper is bolted to the rear crossmember and has more surface area contacting the crossmember than the small factory receiver. I am looking for a good weight distribution/anti-sway setup to pull an Rpod 180 that will give me 8-10inch of . I would prefer Trunnion style. Tongue weight for this trailer is 332 pounds. I have already ordered trailer brake controller and 7 pin plug kit, so now I am looking for proper weight distribution system with enough for this aftermarket bumper.

The Reese Strait-Line # RP66082 is ideal for trailers with tongue weights between 200-lbs and 600-lbs, so it will do a great job with your Rpod 180 trailer with a 332-lbs dry tongue weight. I also really like the Strait-Line system because the cam style sway control is really smooth and does a great job of preventing trailer sway before it starts. It's going to be far superior to trunion or round bar systems and would be my recommendation if you're looking for the best solution.

It sounds like you've already measured and are going to need between 8"-10" drop on your weight distribution shank so you can use the Reese Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches - 9 Hole Adjustment - 1,200 lb TW # RP69FR to get up to 8-3/4" drop. This will also work well since it will extend beyond the spare tire to give you a little extra clearance for the trailer when turning if you've got anything like a trailer jack mounted at the front that could contact that. This would be the longest compatible shank with the Reese Strait-Line system, so I do recommend measuring both the trailer coupler distance from the ground as well as the distance from the top of the receiver on your JKU to the ground and subtracting the difference.
