User manual information concerning the Thule gateway pro does not cover my 2017 volkswagen Jetta 1.8T SEL w\trunk lid lip Spoiler. Can I be sure this item fits this vehicle properly?

This is confirmed to fit your 2017 Volkswagen Jetta and it is designed to be compatible with vehicles that have factory spoilers. You will not have any issues if you have the factory lip/spoiler installed. I attached a demonstration video which shows this bike rack being installed on a Jetta without a spoiler, but you can see that the arms are arched in order to clear the trunk spoiler on your Jetta.
