Converting Hydraulic Surge Brakes to Electric Brakes
Question:
I have a two axle quickload boat trailer with surge brakes that I would like to convert to electric magnetic brakes. The existing hubs are DICO 15638-A, I think they are 10” X 2 and1/4 ? Tire size is ST185/80R13. Boat is a 20’ Cobalt w/Bravo Three Outdrive. The hydraulic surge coupler is a Titan Model 60 rated at 6000 LBS, I don’t know what the axels are rated at. What brake kit w/hubs would you recommend for this application?

You should just need a few components in order to swap out your hydraulic trailer brakes to electric brakes. I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA and Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K.
When switching over to electric brakes on your trailer you will need to add a Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20400.
