No Power Going to Trailer Connector Adapter, 7 Pole to 7 Pole, 5 Pole, 4 Pole and Cigarette Lighter
Question:
I have a 2005 Ford F250 with the factory wiring harness installed and I plugged this adapter in and Im not getting it to power anything. I seen on the package it suggested if I had no power to turn the truck on, I did that and it still did not work. The package also suggested I might need special fuses , do you think this is what I need to do? I went through my owners manual for my truck and cannot directly see what fuses I might need. I know my trailer receptacle works on my truck because I hooked it up to make sure that wasnt bad.

If the 7-Way on the truck is working fine and you are certain that adapter # HM47675 is fully inserted into the receptacle then the most likely issue is that something inside the adapter is bad and it will need to be replaced.
If the 7-Way works on your truck then that would indicate that the fuses/relays are working fine on your truck. To locate them just to be sure you can use the owners manual and/or the legend on the power distribution box lid. They are normally labeled as trailer tow and then the function.
If you are using an item in the adapter that has more power draw than what the tow package wiring can handle that might also be the problem. The fuses for the tow package wiring will have ratings in amperage. For any given function you do not want to exceed the amperage rating otherwise it will blow that fuse.
What you can do to see if the adapter is working without plugging anything in to it is use a circuit tester, like # PTW2979 if you do not already have one, and test the pins and outlets on the adapter. If nothing works when you are testing it with the circuit tester then you know there is a problem inside the adapter.
