Will Fulton Fold-Away Hinge Kit Work On Trailer With Steel Tongue But Aluminum Frame?
Question:
I need a fold away tongue bracket for my boat trailer. I am considering this part: FHDPB330301 However it says “not for alum frame trailers. My frame is alum however my beam from the Y up to the coupler is 3x3” steel tubing. Can I use this part since I will be mounting it on a steel beam? Thank you,

I reached out to my contact at Fulton, and since your trailer has a steel tongue and the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for 3" x 3" Tongue - Bolt On - Up to 5,000 lbs # FHDPB330301 would be bolting to steel you will have no issues.
The issues arise when using it with an aluminum tongue as the aluminum is softer which can cause the mounting holes to elongate and come loose over time.
I included a video of the # FHDPB330301 for you to take a look at.
