Bike Rack Recommendation for 50lb E-Bike With Fenders

Question:

I have the Curt 13382 hitch. Can you recommend a 2 bike hitch rack that will carry a 50 lb electric bike that has front wheel and rear wheel fenders? Due to the fenders it does not seem I can use a wheel lock type mount. Thank you.

The fact that the bikes have fenders rules out many possible options, but we offer one that would be perfect for you. I'd recommend the Saris SuperClamp EX 2-bike rack, part # SA4025F. The wheel cradles, front and rear, both have straps so the rack WILL work with bikes with fenders as confirmed by Saris. The wheel hooks will contact the front and rear tire just below where it meets the fender. The rack has a 60 lb per bike capacity, and accommodates tires up to 4-1/2 inches wide. The rack can tilt away from the rear of the vehicle for easier access to the cargo area while the bikes are still on the rack, and with the bikes removed, you can fold the rack up against the rear of the vehicle so passersby don't trip over it. The rack even includes an integrated cable lock and locking anti-rattle hitch lock to help deter theft.

The Saris # SA4412B Freedom rack you mentioned could also be a good choice, it has the same capacity, but only accommodates tires up to 2-1/4 inches wide and won't tilt for easy access or fold for storage. If you remove the bikes, you can fold down the center mast to access the rear of the vehicle, but it's not nearly as convenient as the SuperClamp EX mentioned above.

If you click the provided link, you can see a demonstration video featuring the SuperClamp EX.
