Are Fixed Cargo Carriers More Stable than Folding Carriers
Question:
Hi. I was thinking about buying a rear hitch mounted cargo carrier for our 2014 Subaru outback. I like the idea of aluminum and would probably go with a larger size as long as it didnt seem too excessive since it would be used periodically when we really want to load up the vehicle for camping trips, etc. Wondering about folding vs fixed styles- folding seems like a nice option, but wondering if it just ends up wobbling a bit more and might be easier to just get a fixed one and remove entirely once we got to our destination?

Folding cargo carriers do add a bit of movement since the hinge assembly has some play in it. If you are looking for something larger, aluminum, and rock solid the aluminum cargo carrier part # C18113 would be a great option.
Then for a hitch lock with an anti-rattle device that will hold the carrier solid the # 63232 would be a great option.
