Will The Motor On My Auto Open Vent Wear Out When The Lid Hits The Vent Cover And Runs A Few Seconds
Question:
What is the difference between the Fan-Tastic Vent Ultra Breeze Trailer Roof Vent Cover # FVU1500WH White, the cover I have is U1500WH. I don’t believe there is the “FU” at the beginning of the model number. My nephew tried the cover on while I ran the Fantastic Fan vent from inside, this fan opens automatically when you use the thermostat/on button and has the rain sensor. The lid of the fan hit the top of the cover, and I believe it will keep trying to open fully and in the end probably burn out the motor. I’m not concerned about the rain sensor, but I am concerned about protecting the fan lid that opens, the surrounding shroud etc. from wind, sun over time and hail. What do I need, maybe a different or raised bracket? Thank you in advance for your help.

Having Item # FVU1500WH on your vent is a great idea and I always recommend it when I do install videos on vents. You have also just pointed something out that I need to start making everyone aware of when I do the install videos so I thank you for that. The auto open and close feature on the vent actually doesn't have a limit whether it is opening or closing and you probably didn't notice it. The motor actually runs a few extra seconds after reaching the limit and then amps out. With a vent cover on and the lid hitting it when it opens, the motor will run for a few second before it turns off. I assure you this is normal and the motor will not wear out from this. It has to be allowed to amp out to shut itself off. There is no difference between parts. We just change or add onto the manufacturer part number.
