Rhino Rack Static Weight For Rooftop Tent

Question:

Hello, I have a Rhino Rack on my 2016 Kia Soul and understand it has a 165 lb weight limit for the system. I believe this to be the limit while traveling dynamic limit. Id like to use a roof top tent, and am wondering if the racks will support that 120 lbs and my weight 160 lbs while parked? My system uses the rhino rack bases The Should doesnt have factory rails or cross bars, and no sunroof. Is the rhino rack 2 crossbars able to take a static load of 300 pounds?. Would adding a third cross bar help? Thanks!

Rhino Rack doesn't provide the static weight capacity of their racks, but the system on your 2016 Kia Soul has a dynamic capacity of 165 lbs which will support the tent # TH8001KSK05 alone. Adding a third bar to your set up will help if you're thinking the system can't hold the weight. I see no reason why your roof rack cannot hold both the tent and your weight especially with the third bar installed. A rule of thumb with rooftop tents is that if the rack can handle 165lbs of dynamic weight it can handle a roof top tent.
