Can a Gooseneck Hitch Be Installed in a 2004 Nissan Titan with a 5-1/2 ft Bed
Question:
We were told that we couldnt pull a gooseneck trailer with our truck because its bed is too short. But I see that it appears that you recommend a certain hitch for this type of truck. Can we indeed pull a gooseneck with our truck?? Thank you for your help!

The Curt Gooseneck Hitch # C620-664 that you referenced is confirmed to fit your 2004 Nisan Titan with a 5-1/2 foot bed. The issue you will most likely see is that when you go to make a tight turn the trailer will want to hit the cab of your truck. If the front of your trailer is very narrow then this might work for you, but most likely you would not have the clearance.
There is a formula to determine if you have enough clearance to make a 90 degree turn.
(A+B) - C = Clearance
A. equals the distance from the center of the rear axle to the cab of your truck.
B. equals the overhang your trailer has in front of the gooseneck hitch, this will be a negative number if the trailer has an overhang. If the trailer has no overhang this will equal zero.
C. equals the width of the trailer divided by 2.
If the clearance you get is at least 4 inches you should be good to execute a 90 degree turn.
