Which Bike Rack Will Not Require Lifting The Bike Over The Center Tubing

Question:

re:Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4 and 2 Hitches - Frame Mount Item # SA4412B As I watch the videos, it appears bikes need to be lifted, almost overhead, to load onto this rack. Is that the case? Can it be loaded in a different way? My bike is 48 pounds and Im absolutely unable to lift it like that... thanks for your help.

The Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B does in fact require the front bike to be lifted over the center tubing. Instead, you could go with the Inno Tire Hold 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # INH120. This bike rack allows you to load the bikes without lifting them any higher than the tire trays. The pivoting upright arms can then be swung over the wheels to lock the bike in place.

There is a nice tilting mechanism that allows trunk-access to most vehicles. This rack can also fold up when not in use, allowing for saved space in a garage. The weight capacity is 120lbs and it can be used with just about any bike that has 3" wide tires or thinner. Keep in mind this bike rack is not ideal for bikes with fenders or baskets. I have attached a couple photos showing the folding and tilting mechanism, and I have also included a demonstration video for you.
