Kayak Carrier for Carrying Kayak that Weighs 79 lbs

Question:

Hi I am trying to purchase a j-rack for a new kayak I am purchasing. The kayak is rated at 79lbs. I have EVERYTHING THULE and was interested in the Thule Hull-A-Pro XT, however I noticed the single kayak weight limit is 75 lbs, but the 2 kayak weight limit is 130 lbs. Will this make a BIG difference? Then I saw the Yakima JayLow, which can handle 1 kayak of 80lbs or less, but for 2 kayaks has a limit of 110 lbs. Are there any other recommendations? I would like the flexibility to carry 2 kayaks on one rack, which the Thule gives 20 more lbs than the Yakima. Any recommendations or suggestions are appreciated.

Due to the weight of your kayak being 79 lbs you'd have to go with the JayLow part # Y04073 since it has the 80 lb capacity and all of the Thule options are at most limited to 75 lbs. What this also means is that if you were to need to carry two kayaks of this weight you'd need to use two of these carriers.

There are no other similar racks that have the higher capacity needed.
