There is going to be a stop light fuse and/or CHMSL fuse on a given vehicle. Looking at pictures of the Nissan NV it does appear to have a CHMSL (center high mount stop light) above the rear doors. If you need to tap into the CHMSL fuse then you can use a fuse tap. You can find the location of the CHMSL fuse by checking the vehicle owners manual and/or legend on the power distribution box lid.

The easiest place to get the brake signal for a brake controller is at the brake switch which is located above the brake pedal. There should be wires going in and out of it. using a circuit tester like # PTW2979 if needed, probe the wires until you find the one that has power ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. It is also shows power with the headlights or turn signals on then it is not the correct wire.

If you cannot access this location then tapping into the CHMSL circuit will work to. You will just have to route the wiring from the fuse tap to the brake controller by most likely going through the firewall on the vehicle. If this requires drilling make sure you are careful not to drill through anything on the other side of the firewall.
