Do I Need a Regulator Between My 20 Pound Propane Tank and Table Top Heater?

Question:

I have a question I can’t seem to find an answer for. I have an 11,000 btu table top propane heater that uses 1 lb canisters. I bought a 12 ft gas line to connect it to a 20 lb propane tank . Do I need another regulator on the 20 lb tank side or can the regulator in the 11,000 btu table top propane heater handle a 20 lb tank pressure? Thx so much

Expert Reply:

If you have been connecting your table top propane heater directly to a 1-pound cylinder then your heater probably has a built in regulator, and as such you can use your hose to connect to a 20-pound cylinder. You should verify this with your heaters manufacturer.

If the manufacturer requires a low pressure regulator the you may want something like the Camco # CAM59863 to put between your 20 pound tank and your heater.
