Why Isnt There Trunk Mounted E-Bike Rack

Question:

My wife is buying 2 ebikes that weigh around 52 pounds each. Id rather not get a trailer hitch mount because I dont have a trailer hitch. Is there a 2 bike trunk mount that will work? Thanks so much,

Due to the nature of how trunk mounted bike racks attach to vehicles there isn't an e-bike trunk mounted bike rack. This is because the trunk racks rest on the rear hatch/trunk and the extra weight of the e-bikes would most likely dent the vehicle or cause other damage.

That's why the only way to carry an e-bike is with a hitch mounted bike rack like the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202. Trailer hitches are a much more secure and strong place to carry the heavier bikes and rack. There is no potential to damage the vehicle too since the rack doesn't connect touch the rear painted surfaces.

Let me know what vehicle you have for a hitch recommendation as well.
