Can the Polypropylene Trailer Vent Be Trimmed to Fit Thin Trailer Walls

Question:

Hello, The trailer side vents I just ordered came with no installation instructions. If after I cut the 3inch hole in the side of my trailer and find out that the thickness of the the trailer side wall is to thin to allow both sides of the vents to fit tight against the wall surface, do I just hack saw the tube on the inside piece shorter to fit? Does this inside tube piece have to push up against the inside surface of the outer vent piece or should it be cut short enough to leave an air gap? Also, if I am installing two vents, one on the front upper side of the trailer and the other on the back opposite side lower down should the vent openings face forward and back or should both face down?

If you find that the wall of your trailer is too thin then you would have to trim at least one of the pieces to allow for a secure fit but make sure it is a straight cut and not an angle cut. Otherwise it may not fit properly together.. ideally you would want a little wiggle room to adjust it as needed without leaving too much of a gap. As for the positioning I would have blades facing down so it is harder for moisture to get in.
