Can the 67 Inch Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring be Cut Down to Fit a 48 Inch Opening

The answers to prior questions about this product are very helpful - thanks. Can the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # 362SW61be shortened to work on a trailer door that has a 48 inch opening? The cables would need to run freely inside the 48 inch opening? Please suggest solutions if this spring will not work.

I spoke with the manufacturer of the enclosed trailer ramp spring # 362SW61. They informed me that the minimum length you can cut it down to is 45 inches. This will leave enough room for it to wind. So the 48 inch opening you have will be large enough and everything should be able to move freely.
