Bike Rack Solution for Stromberg Bunk Adapter CC-275 for 4 Bikes When Used in Vehicle Hitch
Question:
Hi! We are in the process of purchasing a Jayco X213 travel trailer. We have a used Stromberg Carlson bike bunk attachment that we can add to the front. My question is this: Is there a slim bike rack that holds up to 4 bikes that we could attach to the bike bunk, but not exceed about 30 inches in length? 2 hitch receiver We would actually only put 2 bikes on the bike rack hitch weight consideration when using it on the trailer, but wed like something we can also use with our car to carry 4 family bikes when not on the trailer. I really like the Thule Range 4 Bike RV carrier, but I believe this is more than 40 inches in length when fully extended. We tow with an SUV, not a pick-up truck, so Im concerned about the rack hitting the back of the car. Thanks in advance for your recommendation.

For what you are wanting to do your best option would be a 4 bike rack that is basically an expanded 2-bike rack so that you can use it as a 2 bike rack when on the Bunk Adapter part # CC-275 and then a 4 bike rack when at the rear of your vehicle. So for that the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HR1400Z would be a great solution.
This would solve the length issue and also give you option to carry 4 bikes when at the back of your vehicle.
When this rack is in the 4 bike configuration it is 46 inches long overall so in the two bike it would easily be under 40 inches.
