Ladder Rack For Fiberglass Stepside Bed on 2004 GMC Sierra
Question:
What types of ladder racks can i get for a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 with a SIDE STEP bed Made of fiberglass Most manufactureres say they dont make one to fit this style bed. I would only require the one directly behind the cab and not the second on on the rear. It needs to be mounted strong enough to hold a ladder and or some 4x6 ps posts now and then that are heavy. I guess because of the fiberglass bed this presents a problem. What do you people suggest?

I would recommend getting a ladder rack that sits on the bed rails of your truck so it's stonger and you can still use a tonneau cover. This takes a lot of strain off your fiberglass bed and leaves options open for other accessories.
The Adarac Aluminum Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A79FR is a light ladder rack that's about 50 lbs but if you're concerned about your fiberglass bed just be careful when loading up heavier weights. It can handle 500 lbs but if you have some heavier loads maybe just roll up your tonneau cover if you decide to get one and put the heaviest loads in your bed. A headache Rack # 33785104 like this would work with the tonneau cover too since it sits on the bulkhead of your bed, but you will have to choose between that and a ladder rack.
If you have a 6-1/2 foot bed on your 2004 GMC Sierra Stepside you can use the Access Original Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # 834532000289. It's a roll up cover that doesn't cover the side rails of your truck bed so you can use the Adarac ladder rack that sits on the rails of your Sierra.
We do not have a ladder rack for 5-1/2 foot stepside beds.
