I’m trying to get the proper location to mount the rails for a fifth wheel hitch in my 2005 Dodge 2500 short bed

The rear rail edge of the part # RP30035 will sit 28-5/16 inches from the rear edge of the bed of your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed. And then you'd use the hitch to place the front rail once the rear one is set. This ensures that the hitch will fit the rails as easily as possible.
