How to Use Rooftop Tent With 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Question:

I have an 08 F350 6.4 king ranch crew cab. Id like to put a roof top tent above the CAB vs. the BED. Which rails and rack will work BEST for that and what is the payload? Not sure backbone is adequate for overloading the weight from the tent. HELP

While I can understand wanting to use a rooftop tent on the actual roof of your 2008 Ford F-350, the issue is that all rooftop tents, such as the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent # Y07436 requires raised side rails to use safely, and your truck does not have those rails. Other rail systems do not have the adequate strength to safely hold a rooftop tent on your F-350's roof, which could lead to it failing.

There isn't an option for another type of rack system that will allow you to mount a tent to your roof, so there are just two options here. I realize you said you didn't want to put a tent over your truck bed, but for the sake of thoroughness, if you change your mind, what you will need to do so is the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-58.

Apart from that, the only other option would be to utilize a trailer with a rooftop tent, which you could do with the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer with SkyRise HD Tent # Y08129-3627.

I realize these aren't the exact options you want, but they are the only ones available for you to use a rooftop tent with your 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty. I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like.
