Base Plate Recommendation and Tow Bar Compatibility for 2012 Hyundai Veloster
Question:
I bought a 2001 Holiday Rambler 36foot Diesel Pusher RV and it came with a Blue-Ox BX4325 tow bar assembly. I have a 2012 Hyundai Veloster with Manual transmission. I would like to get the proper base plate for it and was wondering if the BX2334 is directly compatible. ALl the wiring is still on the RV as well, but no brake module. The previous owner said he towed a Honda CRV without the braking module. Do I need one for the veloster? I know its better to have than not, but just wanted to know if its required since the RV weighs 20k lbs more than the veloster..

The Blue Ox # BX2334 base plate kit is compatible with your 2012 Veloster as well as your Aladdin tow bar.
You'll need a few other items to tow your vehicle:
• Safety cables like # RM-643
• Diode wiring kit, such as part # RM-15247
• Supplemental braking system like Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR
• Possibly a high/low adapter if the 14.5 inch installed height of the base plate has a height difference of
more than 3 inches compared to the receiver on the motorhome.
I'd highly recommend using a braking system. The nightmare scenario is that you're towing downhill toward a traffic light. The light turns red, and you apply the brakes. If you don't have the braking system, the motorhome will have the additional 2700 lbs of Veloster trying to push it through the intersection. Not a great position to be in.
I'll link to some flat-towing related articles that you might find helpful.
