Expert Reply:

For your 1996 Ford truck there are threaded fittings in the radiator which are input and out put from/to the transmission cooler. The fittings allow you to replace the existing fittings with ones that have flared ends for the hose in a supplemental cooler so you do not have to cut and flare lines.

Use kit # D13014 if the radiator uses 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch threaded fittings, or use kit # D13024 for 1/2-20 inverted flare fittings. You do not need both kits unless you are not sure of what you will need. The only way to determine what you will need according to Derale is to check the radiator where the factory transmission lines enter.
