Battery Charger For AGM Start Battery And DC To DC Charger For House Battery On A 2015 Ford Transit
Question:
I have a 2015 Ford Transit with a WFCO and a house AGM start/deep cycle marine battery. I am looking to safely charge the AGM and also add a DC to DC charger. Currently I do not have solar but may add it next year. Now with Covid my van sits for a long time. It would be nice if I could charge the van and house battery why the van is parked. What product would you recommend for this application? thanks for your time

To charge your AGM battery on your 2015 Ford transit I recommend the OptiMate 7 Smart Battery Charger # MA37JR. This charger is capable of charging 12 volt and 24 AGM batteries as well as wet cell, gel, enhanced flooded, calcium and lithium-ion. 12 volt batteries rated up to 400 amp hours and 24 volt batteries up to 200 amp hours.
For your DC to DC charger I recommend the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 25 Amp Item # 331-BCDC1225D. This charger is a multi stage charger, solar power compatible, works with 12 and 24 volt batteries with a range of 75 amp hours to 200 amp hours. The charger provides a charge to your house battery while the vehicle is running. It has a battery isolator that prevents the charger from pulling power from the vehicle battery when the vehicle is off.
To install the DC to DC charger it will require 40-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 25-Amp BCDC Battery Charger Item # 331-FK40.
