Question:

I have a 2021 jeep Rubicon and planning to flat toe behind my class C rv. Which hitch would you recommend for the Jeep?

For your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Item # RM-521453-5. This baseplate has removable arms which once removed, help the vehicle maintain a nice clean look. It installs on the chassis of the vehicle to give your tow bar a solid mounting location.

To complete your flat tow set up it requires the following items: A tow bar, braking system, wiring, and safety cables.

For a braking system I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. A braking system is required by law in every state for any vehicle being flat towed. This is a portable braking system that is easy to set up and remove and doesn't require a lot of extra wiring. It is a proportional system so it matches the braking pressure applied in the motor home so the Jeep can slow and stop itself and your not relying on the motor home to stop both vehicles.

For a tow bar I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Item # RM-676. This a very durable tow bar that comes with the safety cables and umbilical and has an 8000lb towing capacity. It is a non binding tow bar which allows you to easily disconnect from the baseplate even if the Jeep is on unlevel terrain. Each arm has an LED strip light in it so the tow bar can be seen at night. Each arm has independent articulation and the tow bar can be folded and stored on the back of the motor home when you reach your destination.

Since the tow bar comes with the umbilical I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. This kit allows the light functions from the motorhome to be transferred to the back of the Jeep so your legal and safe and allows you to utilize your factory taillights. The diodes connect to factory wiring behind each taillight and protect the factory wiring from back feed if there is a short anywhere in the wiring between the two vehicles. Once installed it is unnoticeable.

With this wiring it will require the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector - Vehicle End Item # RM-910030-7. This is to connect the 6 pole end of the umbilical to the front of the Jeep.

If your Jeep does not have a 12 volt plug that stays active when the keys are removed, the braking system will require a 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps Item # RM-9332 to provide power.

I have provided links to video to help with the instillations. The videos may be on different years however; the instillation will be the same with the exception of the connections to the factory wiring behind the taillights for the diodes. The wire colors may be different so you will want to test and double check.
