Recommended Tires For 14K Tandem Axle Trailer Carrying Skid Steer

Question:

Hi, I have a 14K tandem trailer that I need tires for. Im planning to trailer a skid steer with it. The tires on the trailer now are ST205/75D15, and are in bad shape. I need 4 tires that will able to handle the load and are superior to the ones that it currently has. Please advise on what product to by from your site. Thanks

I would be happy to make a recommendation for your ST205/75D15 tires on your 14K tandem axle trailer.

Currently the tire with the highest load rating in your current tire size is the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # TR20515D which has a load rating of 2150lbs per tire at 65 PSI.

Since your trailer has a GVWR of 14000lbs you really need a tire with a higher load rating to handle that weight. The closest size tire we offer that has a high enough load rating is the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" Vesper Silver Mod Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR G # TA86FR which is rated for 4080lbs per tire at 110 PSI. This tire will be nearly 4" taller and just over and inch wider so you will want to make sure that there is enough clearance between the tire and the trailer frame and fenders.

It is recommend to have 3-4" clearance between the tire and fenders to allow proper suspension travel, and 1"-2" of clearance between the tire and trailer frame.

The wheel included with the # TA86FR is for a 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern, so using the included helpful article you will want to measure your current wheels to make sure you have the same bolt pattern.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
