How To Gain Vertical Clearance On A 5th Wheel Hitch And Pin Box That Is Hitting The Tailgate
Question:
Does this king pin provide any more adjustment lower than my existing Lippert Trailair Flex Box 1621 18K? I need to increase bed rail clearance by about 1 inch. 5th wheel is 2017 Keystone Alpine 3100RL and tow vehicle is 2021 Ford F-350 Lariat dually 4x4 w/8ft. bed. The tailgate on my new truck has a raised back edge that adds the bed clearance issues. Also hitch has already been adjusted fully up and king pin adjusted fully down. Thanks

If you have your Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 18K # LC328492 adjusted to its lowest position and the 5th wheel hitch is adjusted all the way up and you still don't have the necessary clearance, then you will need to look into a new 5th wheel hitch that will be compatible with your setup. The Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot 5th Wheel Hitch # DM8550033 fits your 2021 Ford F-350 if it has the factory puck system. This has a hitch height: 16" - 19", which is the tallest available. If you do not have the factory puck system, then use Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Hitch # DM8550032 with Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551009. This also has a hitch height of 16" - 19". I have attached demonstration videos for the products mentioned.
