Gooseneck Towing Capacity of 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 5.3 liter

Question:

Hi, I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed, 5.3L V8 with a 3.42 axel ratio. Is this truck capable of hauling a gooseneck trailer? Do you have a recommended gooseneck hitch for this truck of it can haul a gooseneck trailer? I haul horses so the trailer fully loaded with horses will probably weigh between 8000 and 9000 lbs. I am having a hard time finding the towing capacity for it as the Chevy towing guide only shows gooseneck towing capacity for long beds and standard beds but not short beds. Thank you,

I looked up the towing capacity of your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 liter and it's rated for 11,100 lbs which means you'd easily be able to tow an 8k horse trailer.

The best gooseneck hitch would then be the USA mad B and W Turnoverball part # BWGNRK1057 as it's made from the highest quality materials and is overall the easiest to use.

So since you have the 5.5 ft bed truck you have to go with a trailer that has a tapered nose like stock trailer. You wouldn't have the turning clearance to tow a trailer with a wider nose like what the trailers with living quarters have. For a little more clearance an offset ball like part # BWGNXA4085 would work great as it would give an additional 4 inches of clearance.
